This changes all the time. I prefer to keep my numbers down and really focus on those I do correspond with. Some coaches are able to maintain frequent contact with a lot more. Feel free to ask that of each coach you talk to.

I don’t really know enough about them to make a fair comment. I think each coach would have a different opinion. I haven’t recruited from academies much. Nor have I ever been to one to observe what they do. I have a couple players that had good experiences there. My own kids will go to their local high school.

This one is tough because it is completely different for me than it is for you. For me, I would love to see this reported and have the coach punished by the NCAA for knowingly breaking the rules. However, you don’t have much to gain from turning a coach in.

It means at least they are interested in knowing you more. It doesn’t guarantee strong interest, but I would think a coach wouldn’t “friend” a recruit unless they at least had some interest.

A timely letter of recommendation from someone the coach knows could be a good idea. However, lately there seems to be a trend of random letters coming in. Often I get letters about someone that I’ve never heard from.
